Throughout our partnership, Storepro has supported the Thread Together mission by helping to create their community fashion hubs and pop-up mobile wardrobes, that offer brand new clothing to Australians in need.
This year we have come together again to bring brand new clothing to those in Sydney, assisting with the creation of Thread Together’s new clothing hub on Oxford Street in Darlinghurst. This new space fits in perfectly with the luxe vibe of Sydney! With a chic black and white interior, you’d think you were visiting a typical boutique on Oxford Street, except everything is free! Storepro provided the joinery and fixtures throughout the store where you’ll find all the amazing brand new donations of clothing and accessories. These donations will be claimed by those in need with a referral from one of Thread Together’s community partners and given a second lease on life!
During our time working with Thread Together bringing these hubs to life, we have offered our project management, defit, fitout and joinery services free of charge to support the changes they stand for.
“You’ve been there since the beginning. Of all the people we deal with, most of them have never had a chance to sift through a rack of clothes to choose something for themselves. Thread Together is very grateful, but more so are the people who often go through boxes of old clothes and shoes kindly donated who now have this opportunity. I thank you very much.” – Andie Halas, Founder and Chair
Thread Together’s mission is to take actions against two large problems in Australia by minimising textile waste to landfill and supporting those that are living under difficult circumstances. They do this by diverting unused brand new clothing from landfill and giving these garments to people in need. Globally, 87% of all disposed textiles are sent to landfill or incinerated, while many in need go without. The stock that fills the shelves of their hubs all over Australia is made up of end-of-line, unsold, excess stock that is donated from Australian brands that would otherwise contribute to the clothing already sitting in landfills worldwide.
As a business that is always looking for ways to work more sustainably, Storepro is proud to be supporting such an important community initiative that not only benefits the environment but the 3.3 million Australians doing it hard.
